Carlee Adamson, Founder

My work combines my experiences healing my own childhood trauma with 15 years of classroom teaching, facilitating and coaching in Oakland's public schools. I have trained with Peter Levine, leader in the field of Somatic Psychology, through the Trauma Institute as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner and incorporate an understanding of the impact of trauma on the body/ mind/ emotions from this training into my work with educators. I began in my own classroom cultivating practices to support deep listening and identity safety understanding that these are foundational to deep learning. For the past 8 years, I've shared these approaches and practices with organizational leaders, educators, direct service providers, and parents to support them in understanding trauma and its impact on learning and to guide them in building their capacity to create sanctuary spaces for those they serve to heal and learn and grow. 


I partner with a cadre of educators, coaches, and leaders who have engaged the Trauma Literacy framework and embody its principles in their work.

Anouk Aimée Shambrook, PhD., Associate

A former NASA fellow rooted in wisdom teachings and more than 20 years of mind-body training, Dr. Anouk integrates the latest in neuroscience with trauma resilience, nondual meditation and the Aware Ego Process in her executive and individual coaching practice. She attunes to the nuanced needs of each client, and creates an individualized plan with smart strategic goals that we track collaboratively.   In the Trauma Literacy aspect of her coaching work, Dr. Anouk facilitates becoming aware of our blind spots and learning body-based trauma-responsive systems to promote healing and equity.  Her training includes the Aware Ego Process and the Trauma Resiliency Model.®
